The Rules

In my house we have a few rules:
1) Trudy is not allowed on the furniture without being invited.
2) Neither Cassie nor Trudy is allowed on the white silk chair. Ever.

Here's how I found them the other day. Notice from the video they didn't even have the courtesy to look like they were doing something wrong. They just played dumb. Which obviously worked since I got the camera instead of shooing them off the chair.

The great pumpkin

Trudy's Halloween costume arrived today! This dog is such a good sport. I put it on her and her reaction was pretty much "whatever" and "why am I so hot?"

Let me sleep on it

Sleeping in the clean laundry....

Hiding from Trudy... while sleeping.

Playing in the recycling pile.... looking for a place to nap.

Snoozing on the hard window ledge...

Passed out on new (expensive!) pillows...

Cat napping on a favorite chair...

kisses!!

I think this is my favorite new command. I love some Trudy kisses. :)

New Tricks!

These videos are so dark - I really need some better lighting for my place. Anyway, Trudy has learned to go to her bed on command. We are also practicing her staying there while I go out into the hall.

I know it's only like 30 seconds of me leaving, but this is huge progress for us!

Ready for my close-up

Here are some pics of Trudy from the dog park. These pictures were taken by our friend at the park, Dan. Trudy just loves to stare up at him!

Happy Together

Handling it quite well, thank you

Success!! I was on the phone with Marisa and then this happened. Sometimes all it takes is a rainy day and a comfy blanket.

Sleeping Trudy

Every morning I have to wake Trudy up. This is how I found her on Valentine's Day morning. She's snoring in this position.

Paw-ty Time!

My friends threw Trudy a shower this weekend. They came over to my place with doggie themed cupcakes, bone shaped tea sandwiches and shower games! It was very thoughtful and Trudy and I were very touched. Cassie was happiest when everyone went home.

Fran now owns dog bone shaped cookie cutters, I'm guessing.

There's apparently a booming dog party business because Ginny was able to find these:

This shower game was called the Sooper Dooper Pooper Scooper Derby! It was like a triathalon, said Marisa (hope that's no indication of how hard she's been training for hers). This is the picture at the start - everyone is in teams of 2. Here we are about to eat and drink like Trudy! Then we had to be led around the apartment with our eyes closed (walk like Trudy!) and then "find the poop" that was hidden around the place (which were just brownies in plastic bags). Eat like Trudy? eew. lol.

Marisa finds some poop!

Speaking of poop, here's another game. Tootsie Rolls in a glass canister.

Trudy enjoys a gourmet doggie cupcake.

Doggie see, doggie do

Trudy and Cassie are becoming closer every day. Lately Trudy has been imitating Cassie - specifically, kicking her off of her spot on the couch. I wish I had caught this progression on video, but I have pictures.

There's a little cat mat that's on the edge of our couch that says "i like my fishes". Cassie fits quite nicely on the mat and sits there often. Trudy decided the other day to push Cassie off the mat and take her place. You can see she doesn't quite fit as well.

Midnight snack

Sorry there are no photos of this story, but trust me - you'll thank me.

One night this week, before going to bed, I scooped Cassie's litter box and put the contents in a plastic grocery bag, tied it up and left it in the bathroom to be thrown out in the morning. (Can you see where this story is going?)

The next morning I woke up and noticed the bathroom floor was covered in a thin layer of litter, the plastic bag had been shredded and the smelly, savory contents of the bag had mysteriously disappeared! Both Cassie and Trudy were asleep in their beds. So innocent, these two.

I still don't know if they were in cahoots or if this was the work of one trash hound, but I was pretty grossed out overall. However, bits of the truth "came out in the end" on my morning walk with Trudy.

Anybody want some Trudy kisses??

A shadow of my former self

Trudy was a matted mess so the groomer suggested we just shave her down and start over. So we did. She's so soft and clean and shiny now! But she looks (and behaves) like a puppy. I think she feels a lot lighter.

Courage for Cassie

Cassie was pretty upset when Trudy returned from West Virginia where she spent the holiday. But as you can see, Cassie has come a long way from hiding under the bed. She now asserts herself (that sound at the very beginning of the clip is her meooowing) until something scares her back into the bedroom - like me tripping over something while filming. Trudy, naturally, is oblivious.
